About Nakkubetta Foundation
Who We Are
Nakkubetta Foundation is a public charitable trust based in The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu. Since 2014 we have been working with rural and tribal communities on water conservation, health and de-addiction, and the preservation of Baduga culture. We believe that strong values, local leadership and community media can transform lives in the hills.
What we do
Run Water Revolution campaigns, rainwater harvesting and spring revival across Nilgiris villages.
Lead health and de-addiction awareness for youth, families and communities.
Revive and document Baduga cultural heritage through Nakkubetta TV, Nakkubetta Radio and festivals.
Empower women and youth through leadership, skills and values-based education programmes.
Founder’s Story – N N Ramakrishnan
N N Ramakrishnan has over 25 years of experience in the media field and a lifelong passion for spreading spiritual and cultural values in the Baduga community and the Nilgiris.
Believing that media is a powerful platform for awareness, he launched Nakkubetta TV in 2013, the first and best-rated Baduga community channel from the Nilgiris. The channel soon expanded beyond local cable to reach Mettupalayam and Coimbatore, and later a global audience through the Nakkubetta TV website and Android app.
To deepen the social impact of this work, he started Nakkubetta Foundation in 2014 as a non-profit organisation. Through the Foundation he has organised programmes on women empowerment, agricultural awareness, medical and cancer camps, educational support, water conservation, culture and spiritual awareness, especially for rural and tribal communities.
