 Shaping Futures: Nakkubetta Foundation’s Educational Guidance Initiative for Rural Students

In the years 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2017, the Nakkubetta Foundation conducted a series of educational guidance programs focused on empowering students in the rural villages of the Nilgiris district. These programs attracted numerous educational institutions, which shared their expertise and advice with the students. Hundreds of rural students participated, gaining invaluable insights and guidance that helped pave the way for their educational and career success.

Water Revolution: Nakkubetta Foundation's Initiative for Water Conservation

With the increasing demand for water due to population growth, water conservation has become a critical issue. In response to this challenge, the Nakkubetta Foundation launched the "Water Revolution" project to raise awareness about the importance of conserving water.

The project involved visiting several villages in the Nilgiris district to educate the local population about water conservation techniques and its long-term benefits. As part of the initiative, saplings were planted in each village to symbolize the need for sustainable practices. The event received a warm and enthusiastic response from the rural community, who showed great support for the cause. Through this project, the Nakkubetta Foundation aimed to instill a sense of responsibility for preserving this vital resource for future generations.

Nakkubetta Foundation Provides Flood Relief in Cuddalore District

In 2015, heavy rains caused widespread flooding in Cuddalore district, severely disrupting daily life. In response, the Nakkubetta Foundation took immediate action to support the victims. The foundation mobilized the Badaga community in the Nilgiris District to raise funds and collect essential materials for the affected areas.

The Nakkubetta Foundation team traveled directly to Cuddalore, where they provided much-needed relief by distributing food and basic necessities to those impacted by the disaster. Volunteers from the foundation stayed in the region for a week, offering their support and ensuring that the flood victims received the aid they needed. Many people benefited from this timely and compassionate effort, which helped alleviate some of the hardships caused by the disaster.

A Multi-Specialty Hospital for Rural Nilgiris: A Community Initiative

To address the lack of modern medical facilities in the Nilgiris district, where rural residents often had to travel to other districts for emergency treatment, plans were made to construct a multi-specialty hospital at the Siddhagiri Sai Baba Temple in Yedappalli, Coonoor. This hospital aims to provide free and quality healthcare to the underprivileged and common people in the region.

Construction work began in 2016, and the project gained widespread attention when it was featured on Nakkubetta TV, a division of the Nakkubetta Foundation. The telecast emphasized the importance of involving the entire community in this noble initiative, highlighting that the hospital was being built for the welfare of the people. This collaborative approach aims to ensure collective ownership and a shared commitment to improving healthcare access in the Nilgiris.

"Appreciation Ceremony for Award-Winning Teachers at Providence College"

On September 19, 2015 (Saturday), the Nakkubetta Foundation organized an appreciation ceremony at Providence College, Coonoor, to honor teachers who had won the prestigious "Dr. Radhakrishnan Award" and National Awards. The ceremony was attended by all the award-winning teachers, who shared their valuable experiences with the attendees.  

A special highlight of the event was a debate on the topic, "The Biggest Contributors to Children's Development in Today's Environment: Parents or Teachers?" The discussion sparked insightful reflections on the roles of both parents and teachers in shaping the future of children. The event was well-attended and recognized as a significant occasion for celebrating educational excellence.

Cultural Awareness Program for College Student

The Nakkubetta Foundation organized a cultural awareness program for college students, aiming to inspire the younger generation to value and preserve their cultural heritage. Mr. N.N. Ramakrishnan, Managing Trustee of the Nakkubetta Foundation, delivered a motivational speech, emphasizing the crucial role of youth in safeguarding and upholding their culture for future generations.

Project Tree 2022: A Green Initiative for Environmental Responsibility

Project Tree 2022 was inaugurated on August 12, 2021, at Providence College, Coonoor, with the motto "Taking Responsibility for the Earth and the Environment." The project aims to plant 2,022 saplings across various parts of the district, fostering a greener and healthier environment.  

The initiative is a collaboration between the Nakkubetta Foundation Women's Section and Providence Women’s College.

 SOS Women’s Initiative: Empowering Women Through Awareness and Tradition 

The Soldiers of Swicty (SOS) women’s section, established by the Nakkubetta Foundation, launched a series of initiatives aimed at advancing women in the community. Weekly online awareness programs were conducted every Sunday at 3 PM, featuring female activists and achievers from the Badaga community. These sessions covered a wide range of topics, including life skills, spirituality, community building, self-awareness, yoga, and physical health.  

From August 27 to August 30, 2021, a four-day Awareness Camp was held at Masagal near Kotagiri, a serene location surrounded by trees, mountains, waterfalls, and fresh natural air. The camp included yoga and meditation sessions, as well as educational experiences on ancient Badaga practices, such as cultivating fruits, foods, and crops. Participants also engaged in discussions about societal challenges, successes, and areas for improvement, alongside reflections on the customs and traditions of their ancestors.  

The event provided a transformative and enriching experience for the women involved, empowering them to excel in education, develop leadership skills, and advance in their respective responsibilities. Women from numerous villages participated enthusiastically, making the initiative a significant step toward community upliftment. This impactful event was entirely organized and facilitated by the Nakkubetta Foundation.

Camp for Differently Abled Organized in Ooty

 Mandatha Mathu: Advocating for the Revival of Government and Rural Schools

The Mandatha Mathu program, held on Saturday, March 13, 2020, highlighted the theme "Let's save government schools, let's restore rural schools". This initiative brought attention to the importance of government schools in rural areas and the free facilities they provide to students, such as learning materials, which are often undervalued by the general public.

The program underscored the benefits of enrolling children in government schools. Speakers emphasized that such enrollment not only enhances the educational quality but also significantly reduces financial burdens on families, thereby improving their living standards. The discussions revolved around creating awareness about these benefits and encouraging rural communities to support and utilize government schools in their villages.

This event, telecasted by Nakkubetta Television under the Nakkubetta Foundation, left a significant impact on rural communities. It successfully motivated many to consider the potential of government schools as a cornerstone for community development and family welfare.

Camp for Differently Abled Organized in Ooty

 On June 8, 2017 (Thursday), a special Camp for Differently Abled individuals was jointly organized by the Government of India’s Ministry of Labour and Employment, the National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled, the Nakkubetta Foundation, and HRM Trust. The event was held at the HADP Training Hall in Ooty and saw the participation of over 300 attendees, including 150 beneficiaries.

Mr. N.N. Ramakrishnan, Managing Trustee of the Nakkubetta Foundation, welcomed the gathering. Trustees of HRM Trust, Mr. M. Bhojaraj and Mr. Rajesh Chander, were the guests of honor. The camp was inaugurated by Mr. Rajasekar and Mr. Ravikumar from NCSC, Chennai. The entire event was meticulously organized by a team led by Mr. H. Sivalingan, coordinator of the Nakkubetta Foundation.

On February 15 and 16, 2020, the Nakkubetta Foundation, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Ooty and Manushyaa Blossom, organized a special camp to raise awareness about Siddha treatment for autism and cancer. The event saw significant participation, providing attendees with valuable information and medical guidance.

  Cancer Awareness and Prevention Camp Held in Kotagiri

On July 15, 2017 (Saturday), the Nakkubetta Foundation, HRM Foundation, and Dr. Krishnamoorthy Foundation, Vellore, jointly organized a Cancer Awareness and Prevention Camp at HRM Hall, John's Square, Kotagiri. The primary goal of the camp was to educate people, especially those in the rural areas of Nilgiris, about the causes of cancer and the measures that can be taken for its prevention.
