How we work with communities
Nakkubetta Foundation and Nakkubetta TV run long-term programmes focused on community development across the Nilgiris and nearby districts. We combine media, village visits, school and college sessions, documentation, and festivals so that awareness becomes a part of daily life.
Below are some of our key programmes and focus areas. Over time, we will continue to add more stories and photos from the field.
Water & Environment
• Project TREE – tree planting, green Nilgiris campaigns, and school involvement to promote water conservation in Nilgiris.
• Water Revolution – spring and lake revival, rainwater harvesting, and village water awareness initiatives.
• Agricultural Awareness & Organic Farming – farmer meetings, field demos, and market guidance to enhance community sustainability.
• Flood Relief & Disaster Response in Nilgiris – support during heavy rains and landslides, contributing to the resilience of local communities.
Health, Wellbeing & Lifestyle
• Autism Camp and camps for differently abled children, fostering inclusion and support.
• Medical camps and cancer awareness programmes in rural and tribal areas to improve health access.
• Camp for Healthy Lifestyle – traditional practices, mudras, and natural health methods promoting holistic well-being.
• One Drop Spirituality – taking simple daily spiritual practices to every hatty to enhance mental health.
• Acupressure & Acu-meditation camps, yoga sessions, and Yoga @ Kagguchi, encouraging healthy lifestyles.
Culture, Youth & Education
• Culture Preservation Programme and Baduga Traditional Songs documentation to maintain cultural heritage.
• Badugar Day, Mupperum Vizha, Bana Kaappa Habba, and community festivals celebrating local traditions.
• Baduga Language Class (6–7 pm), youth and leadership sessions in villages to empower the next generation.
• Educational Awareness, Career Guidance, and college programmes with UIT, Providence College, and others, including de-addiction initiatives in Nilgiris to support youth.
• Live TV & radio shows, social media outreach, and “Soldiers of Society” recognition to foster community engagement.
Community & Special Camps
• Women empowerment events and appreciation ceremonies to uplift local women.
• Village camps in Aasanur, Masagal, Yedapalli, Kagguchi, and other hatties, focusing on community building.
• Documentation of elders’ knowledge, surveys, and stories from the hills to preserve local history.

Youth leadership camps like Nanga Habba and village camps bring students and young people together for values, culture and community work.
We encourage them to serve, speak up and take responsibility for their hills, while women’s groups build confidence and leadership.

Through Project TREE, Water Revolution and village drives, we work with students, farmers and local communities to protect springs, rivers and forests.
Tree planting, clean-up drives and school clubs promote native species, soil health and a greener Nilgiris.

Our health and de-addiction camps offer medical check-ups, therapy support and awareness sessions for children, youth and families.
We work with doctors and counsellors so that every person feels seen, supported and guided away from addiction.

Nakkubetta Foundation honours the silent “soldiers of society” – women who hold families, farms and communities together. Through motivation sessions, skills training and recognition programmes, we help women gain confidence, networks and new opportunities.

We organise free medical and cancer awareness camps in rural and tribal villages with doctors, screenings and follow-up guidance. The focus is on early detection, lifestyle change and connecting people to the right health services.

Through documentation, competitions and village events we preserve Baduga traditional songs, language and customs. Nakkubetta TV and Radio record and share these voices so that the next generation can learn with pride from their own heritage.

With colleges such as UIT and Providence, we conduct value education, media awareness and career guidance sessions. Students meet experts, understand real-life challenges and explore how they can serve society through their studies and talents.

Through One Drop Spirituality, Surali spiritual tours and village satsangs, we share simple daily practices for peace, gratitude and values. The aim is to keep spirituality close to everyday life, not only in temples but also in homes and workplaces.
